Injectable Peptide Therapy

Injected peptide protocols such as sermorelin, ipamorelin, CJC-1295 and BPC-157. Not the same thing as peptides in a skincare product.

The word peptide appears in two completely different contexts in this industry, and conflating them causes real confusion. Peptides in a serum are a topical skincare ingredient. Peptide therapy means injecting compounds intended to act systemically, commonly marketed around growth hormone signaling, recovery or healing. This page is about the second.

Most of these are compounded rather than FDA-approved finished products. Compounded drugs are not reviewed by the FDA for safety and effectiveness before they are sold, which is a meaningful difference from a prescription you would collect at a pharmacy, and the regulatory status of individual peptides has shifted in recent years. Ask what specifically you are being prescribed, where it is compounded, and what the evidence for it actually is.

What to ask a provider

  • Exactly which peptide, at what dose, and from which compounding pharmacy?
  • Is this an FDA-approved product or a compounded one?
  • What monitoring do you do while I am on it?
