Platelet-rich plasma and platelet-rich fibrin both start with a blood draw in the office. The sample is spun so the platelet-dense fraction can be separated out and used. The two differ mainly in how they are processed: PRF is spun more slowly and without an anticoagulant, which leaves a fibrin scaffold in the product.
The defining feature is that the material is autologous, meaning it comes from your own body.
